Lilongwe,22 December 2010 -The Malawi Investment Promotion Agency (MIPA) has facilitated 30 new investments worth USD 58,243,188.00 between January – November 2010. These new investments are expected to create 3,239 jobs.
MIPA recorded highest levels of investment pledges in 2006 at US 185,299, 177.99. 52 new companies registered with MIPA and 4012 new jobs were created
Origin of Investors and Sectoral Distribution
Asia leads as the main source of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into Malawi in 2010 with11 new companies. Local companies also invested in the economy (9 new companies) followed by SADC, Europre and North America.
