Electricity Rates

SCALE 1 - DOMESTIC TARIFF

For the supply of electricity to premises used sorely for residential purposes and to all apparatus, including motors up to a total of 1.5 kW, normally used for such premises:

Fixed Charge per month	MK 90.94
For each unit consumed of the first 30 unit Per month	MK 1.94
For each unit consumed in excess of 30 units and less than 750 units per month	MK 2.85
For each unit consumed in excess of 750 units per month	MK 4.05

SCALE II - GENERAL TARIFF

For the supply of electricity to premises other than premises used sorely for residential purposes, being premises in respect of which the chargeable maximum demand is less than 40 kVA:

Fixed charge for single phase supply per month	MK 298.19
Fixed charge for three phase supply per month	MK 415.66
For each unit consumed per month	MK 5.35

SCALE III – MAXIMUM DEMAND TARIFF – LOW VOLTAGE CONSUMERS

For three phases supply of electricity to a consumer with a chargeable demand of 40 kVA or more supplied at 400 volts:

Fixed Charge per month	MK 1100.50
For each unit consumed per month	MK 2.98
On peak maximum demand charge, per kVA per month	MK 701.07

Optional maximum demand tariff - Low voltage consumers

Maximum demand (Off peak) tariff consumer’s option, the terms of which are subject to negotiation with the corporation:

SCALE IV – MAXIMUM DEMAND TARIFF – MEDIUM VOLTAGE CONSUMERS

For the supply of electricity to a consumer with a chargeable maximum of 40 kVA or more supplied at 11 kV or 33 kV:

On peak maximum demand charge per kVA per month	MK 655.24

Optional Maximum Demand Tariff – Medium Voltage Consumers

Maximum demand (Off Peak) tariff consumer’s option, the terms of which are subject to negotiation with the corporation:

SCALE V – EXPORT TARIFF – MEDIUM VOLTAGE CONSUMERS

For the supply of electricity to consumers outside the borders of Malawi with a chargeable maximum demand of 40 kVA or more supplied at 11 kV or 33 kV:
