stakeholders' validation workshop on malawi's marketing plan for investment promotion
Lilongwe, Sunbird Capital Hotel – Thursday 21st July 2011, from 09.00 hours
Realizing that there is very stiff competition among economies in attracting investment, Malawi needs a well planned and focussed investment promotional strategy that will market the country as an attractive destination for foreign investment.
In order to effectively contribute to the process of facilitating investment into the country as well as in priority sectors of economic growth, the Malawi Investment Promotion Agency, with support from the UNDP’s Growing Sustainable Business (GSB) project engaged the services of an independent international consulting firm OCO Global to develop a Marketing Plan for Investment Promotion for Malawi.
The Marketing Plan will present MIPA with a targeted country and sectoral promotional strategy with the view of having a more focused, and comprehensive, investment promotion hand book for Malawi. In addition to singling out specific countries of focus, the draft plan also aligns the targeted countries to specific sectors of focus for those countries in tandem with the Malawi national development strategy the Malawi Growth and Development Strategy (MGDSII). This will ensure that the Agency contributes positively towards the national development agenda.
This will be a day-long validation workshop and will bring stakeholders from within the Government ministries and departments, private sector representatives, cooperating partners, and the media to provide input to the Marketing Plan prior to adoption.
The function will start from 9.00 hours and will run until 15.00 hours.
